DriftCon 2016

Matt Hauhgness from Importmeet.com is no stranger to organizing events centered around the automotive community.  So when Matt teamed up with Evergreen Drift to create DriftCon, it is no wonder why it has quickly become the hottest events during the Evergreen Drift season.  An amalgamation of the Evergreen Drift Pro Am series, Great 80 car show, team tandem drifting, Hoon-Off contests, and vendor rows, DriftCon has enough action to make your head spin.

DriftCon comes to Evergreen Drift twice a year and is combined with round 2, and 5 of the Evergreen Drift Pro Am series.  The combination of these events is awesome for the community as it draws more people to the track and provides exposure for the drivers and their programs as they battle it out in the hopes of earning their Formula Drift Pro 2 license.  Despite some delays during competition, the drivers gave it their all and put on an amazing show for the crowd in attendance.  Blessed with some amazing weather this weekend, plumes of smoke filled the complex as  drivers decimated their sweet sticky rubber.  Whether it was the heat or the pressure of competition, drivers pushed their chariots to their limits in the hopes of knocking out their rivals.  Either way, the people rejoiced.  Yayyyyyy!

This event was even more awesome with the presence of KCTS channel 9.  In reprieve of a story I'm sure everyone has seen so far regarding the illegal Kent street drifting and racing, we set out to shed light on the legal and sanctioned events that are available for all members of the community to come out and enjoy.  Hopefully we as drivers can accept the responsibility for preserving the image of our community and educating those on the awesome events that are accessible to all types for drivers and competitors.
